Higher Resolution m/z Selection, FT-ion Mobility, Surface Collisions, and Computations — Leads: David Russell and Steffen Lindert

TOP 2 improves mass selection using digital quadrupole technology and improved resolution Fourier transform ion mobility (IM) spectrometry, couples surface induced dissociation with multiple IM and MS analyzers including charge detection mass spectrometry, and develops computational methods to use energy-resolved nMS data and IM to identify “near-native” computational models. TOP 2 will develop digital quadrupole (digiQ) technology for improved mass selection of large protein complexes, couple digiQ to improved resolution Fourier transform ion mobility, couple surface-induced dissociation with IM in multiple vendor formats, and couple digiQ, IM, and SID in needed combinations to charge detection mass spectrometry (CDMS).

DigiQ: Enhanced resolution and integration of SID and IMS-MS technologies for MS-guided structural biology.

SID devices and platform-specific coupling of SID to ion mobility and/or charge detection mass spectrometry.

Aim 3

Advanced computational techniques for protein complex structure prediction from SID-ERMS and ion mobility data.
